With the cutting of the first steel plate, construction has officially entered the execution phase for the new Bandiera-class offshore patrol vessel destined for the Italian Guardia di Finanza.

For Cartubi, this is the largest naval vessel the shipyard has built to date for the paramilitary sector: an approximately 60-metre hybrid-propulsion vessel, based on a design by the Dutch shipbuilder Damen and featuring its renowned axe bow hull, designed to provide outstanding hydrodynamic efficiency and excellent seakeeping performance.

Cartubi will operate within an international industrial programme in compliance with the standards of the Guardia di Finanza and under the continuous survey of RINA (Italian Naval Register), with the aim of achieving the vessel’s highest Class notation.

The new vessel, which will become the flagship of the Guardia di Finanza fleet, will bear the name 𝑷05 𝑱𝑼𝑫𝑹𝑰𝑶.
The name refers to the Judrio stream, on the border between the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and Slovenia, a place of symbolic importance in the history of the Guardia di Finanza, where its officers distinguished themselves through acts of bravery during the First World War.
